Travel back in time in the sweeping sands of Jordan, home to ancient sights and lost cities and stunning natural wonders
Day 1: AMMAN
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight Amman. (D)
Day 2: AMMAN – DEAD SEA – PETRA
After breakfast, enjoy a morning tour of the old city of Amman exploring the Citadel and the Roman Theatre, two of the most popular archaeological sites in the city. Later, head east to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Take this opportunity to try out an invigorating mud bath to cleanse the skin and watch the sunset over the hills of the Holy Land with Jerusalem in the distance. Continue to Petra. Overnight in Petra. (B,D)
Day 3: PETRA Enjoy a full day tour of the Red Rose city, where you will explore one of the most stunning sites in the entire Middle East. The Red Rose City of Petra is carved out of craggy rocks by the Nabateans approximately 2000 years ago. Fortified behind a narrow, deep siq (gorge) that slowly winds through a huge rock wall, the majestic façade of the so-called Treasury rises up with a breathtaking view as you emerge into the sunlight. Overnight Petra. (B,D)
Day 4: PETRA – WADI RUM After breakfast, depart for Wadi Rum. Explore the beauty of the desert with a 2-hour jeep tour. Overnight Wadi Rum. (B,D)
Day 5: WADI RUM – KERAK – MADABA – MT. NEBO – AMMAN After breakfast, transfer to Amman via Kerak, Madaba & Mount Nebo. First stop is Kerak, famous for its crusader fortress in the centre of underground galleries, rooms and secret passageways and its thick defensive walls pierced by narrow arrow slits where crusader archers held out bravely for over 100 years. Next, drive to Madaba, “the City of Mosaics”. Madaba’s chief attraction in the contemporary Greek Orthodox Church of St. Georg, is a wonderfully vivid, sixth-century Byzantine mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites. Continue to Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, the presumed site of the prophet’s death and burial place. A small, square church was built on the spot by early Byzantine Christians and later expanded into a vast complex. Then drive to Amman. Overnight Amman. (B,D)
Day 6: AMMAN After breakfast, transfer to Queen Alia International airport, for your departure flight. End of our services at Amman airport. (B)
