Experience the best of Slovenia on this unforgettable journey through vibrant cities, ancient towns, fairytale lakes, and breathtaking alpine landscape
DAY 1: LJUBLJANA
Welcome to Slovenia and its beloved capital! After arrival, you will be transferred from Ljubljana airport to your tour hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Ljubljana.
DAY 2: LJUBLJANA
Begin the day with a visit to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s vibrant and colourful capital. Your guide will lead you through the city’s key sights, including Prešeren Square, the iconic Triple Bridge, the lively fish market, Town Hall, and more. To complete your Ljubljana experience, ride the funicular to Castle Hill, where you’ll delve into the city’s rich history and enjoy panoramic views from above. The afternoon is free to explore at your leisure. Overnight in Ljubljana. (B)
DAY 3: LJUBLJANA – MARIBOR – PTUJ – LJUBLJANA
Drive to Maribor, Slovenia’s second-largest city, famous for its 400-year-old grapevine-the oldest in the world. Explore the old town along the river with a guided tour and stop at a local restaurant for lunch (lunch not included). Enjoy some free time before continuing to Ptuj, Slovenia’s oldest city. Discover its Roman heritage, including gravestones, temples, and ancient roads, from the time it was known as Petovio. Return to Ljubljana for overnight. (B)
DAY 4: LJUBLJANA – PREDJAMA – POSTOJNA – PORTOROZ
Your first stop is Predjama; an extraordinary Renaissance fortress built within a cave-unlike any castle you’ve seen before. Next, venture into the queen of all caves – Postojna Cave, the only cave in the world with an underground train. After an awe-inspiring walk beneath the surface, enjoy some free time for lunch before continuing to the Slovenian coast. You’ll stay overnight in one of the charming seaside resorts, with the rest of the day free to unwind on the beach. (B)
DAY 5: PORTOROZ – PIRAN – KOPER – PORTOROZ
In the morning, enjoy a guided tour of the charming boutique town of Piran. Once part of the Venetian Republic, Piran’s architecture bears a strong resemblance to Venice, making it one of the most picturesque and enchanting towns in the world. After some free time to sip coffee by the sea, the journey continues to Koper-a coastal Slovenian town that was once an island. Its medieval streets are ideal for a leisurely afternoon stroll. Enjoy lunch and take some free time to relax and soak in the beauty of the Slovenian seaside. (B, L)
DAY 6: PORTOROZ – LIPICA – SOCA VALLEY – KOBARID – BLED/BOHINJ
After breakfast, you’ll head back to the Karst region for a new chapter of your journey-this time centered around horses. You’ll be introduced to the remarkable Lipizzaner breed, specially developed for the Habsburg monarchy. These unique horses are known for their rare trait of being born black and gradually turning white as they mature. Following a fascinating visit to the historic stud farm, the adventure continues to the emerald Soča Valley. This area was once part of the infamous Isonzo Front during World War I, with the pivotal 12th battle taking place in Caporetto (modern-day Kobarid), home to a compelling WWI museum. Museum visit after lunch followed by a scenic afternoon drive to the Julian Alps. Overnight in Bled/Bohinj area. (B, L)
DAY 7: BLED – BOHINJ – LJUBLJANA
Experience an Alpine fairytale in Bled, famed for its stunning lake with a charming island. Visit the medieval Bled Castle perched on a cliff for spectacular views and take a traditional “pletna” boat to the island in the lake. After lunch, continue to Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest alpine lake, and ride the funicular up to Mt. Vogel for panoramic vistas of Triglav National Park. Enjoy free time to relax by the lake and take in the scenery. In the evening, join your group for a farewell dinner. Overnight in Ljubljana. (B, L, D)
