To experience the true essence of Paris, a panoramic bus tour is a wonderful start, but to really connect with the city, you have to stroll through its streets and even sail along its river. Much of the breathtaking layout of Paris’s grand avenues was shaped by a massive 19th-century transformation. But what was medieval Paris like? To uncover the maze of streets in the city’s oldest areas and capture the spirit Parisians felt, for example, during the French Revolution, we’ll begin our journey on the famous Left Bank — the Rive Gauche — in the iconic Latin Quarter, where the medieval layout of old Paris remains largely preserved. Our walk begins in front of the prestigious Sorbonne University. Led by our expert Paris guide and equipped with headsets so we won’t miss a word while capturing photos along our walking tour, we’ll explore the narrow, winding, medieval streets of this neighbourhood. We’ll see some of the oldest churches in Paris, the city’s oldest tree, remnants of ancient Roman baths, and the fascinating building that houses the Cluny Medieval Museum. We’ll admire the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral, a Gothic masterpiece standing for over 850 years. Our guide will share not only the history of this architectural wonder, but also the symbolism and legends surrounding a site of such significance. We’ll delve into the mysteries of the Hunchback of Notre Dame’s home. Due to the fire that damaged the cathedral, the visit will be to its magnificent exterior only, as it now stands even more symbolic of heritage to be preserved for future generations. Notre Dame is located on an island in the Seine River, the historic birthplace of Paris. From here, we’ll see the site of the first royal residence of French kings and the city’s oldest hospital. After this walking tour through Paris’s heart, we’ll travel by bus to one of the city´s most beautiful delights – declared a World Heritage Site – the Seine River that passes through the centre. Possibly the world’s most famous river cruise through the heart of a city, this serene journey aboard the famous Bateaux Mouches will give us time to take in the sights and capture lasting memories. As we sail leisurely, we’ll see Paris’s iconic landmarks from a new perspective and admire the many beautiful bridges that cross the Seine. If you’ve ever dreamed of strolling and sailing through romantic Paris, this is your chance to make this dream come true! DURATION: 5 hrs
