A journey to Spain’s unique north-west including Galicia and into Northern Portugal
Day 1 – Tuesday: MADRID – LEON – OVIEDO
Depart from selected Madrid hotels at approximately 08:15, or the bus terminal located at, Calle Ferraz 3, Madrid, at 08:00a.m. (Check your voucher for exact information regarding your pickup or if you need to make your way to the terminal. Please be at the terminal no later than 07:45). Travel to Leon. Time at leisure to visit sights such as the Gothic Cathedral with its beautiful stained glass windows, and the Basilica of San Isidoro. Continue to Oviedo for overnight. (D)
Day 2 – Wednesday: OVIEDO – LA CORUNA
Following breakfast, depart to the region of Galicia. Arrive in La Coruna with a short panoramic tour upon arrival. Overnight La Coruna. (B, D)
Day 3 – Thursday: LA CORUNA – SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
After breakfast, depart to Santiago de Compostela. Enjoy a city tour of this legendary pilgrimage town; Plaza del Obradoiro, Cathedral and more. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight Santiago de Compostela. (B, D)
Day 4 – Friday: SANTIAGO – RIAS BAJAS – VIGO – PORTO
After breakfast, depart for the area of the Spanish Fjords (Rias Bajas), through splendid landscapes, with a brief stop at La Toja Island. Stop at O Grove to take an optional tour on a catamaran and see an oyster and mussel farm, which includes mussel and Ribeiro wine tasting. Continue to Vigo. Free time. Crossing the Minho River which shares the borders of Spain and Portugal, we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Minho until we get to Porto. Overnight Porto. (B)
Day 5 – Saturday: PORTO
Porto is considered a World Heritage city. Enjoy a panoramic tour to admire the cathedral, Stock Exchange building, St. Clara church. End the tour at a local wine cellar to enjoy a tasting of the famous “Port wine”. Free time to take an optional cruise down the Douro River. Overnight Porto. (B)
Day 6 – Sunday: PORTO – SALAMANCA – MADRID
Following breakfast, drive to the monumental city of Salamanca. Time at leisure to discover its Plaza Mayor and old quarters. Return to Madrid. End of services upon arrival into Madrid city centre. No hotel drop off. You will need to make your own way to the hotel. (B)
