Southern Italy by Rail | Self Guided Tour | 8 Days

DAY 1:                    ROME 

Upon arrival into Rome airport, you will be transferred to the hotel by a private car. The rest of the day is at leisure, to explore the Eternal City. Overnight in Rome.  

DAY 2:                    ROME 

After breakfast, discover ancient Rome on the included Imperial Tour. Explore the historic Roman Forum before entering the iconic Colosseum, where your guide will bring the city’s fascinating Roman history and gladiatorial past to life. In the afternoon, free time to continue exploring the Eternal City. Overnight in Rome. (B)

DAY 3:                    ROME – NAPLES – POMPEII – SORRENTO 

Breakfast at the hotel. Make your way to Rome Termini Station and board a high-speed train to Naples. On arrival, meet your driver and continue to Pompeii, where you will have approximately two hours to explore the remarkable archaeological site. Entrance is included, while a private guide is available at an additional cost. Discover the ancient Roman city preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Continue to Sorrento, renowned for its charming historic centre and picturesque Marina Grande fishing village. Overnight in Sorrento. (B)

DAY 4:                    SORRENTO – CAPRI – ANACAPRI – SORRENTO 

Following breakfast, enjoy a small-group excursion to the stunning island of Capri and Anacapri, with a maximum of 20 guests. Visit the world-famous Blue Grotto, weather permitting, before exploring the island’s beautiful landscapes and charming towns. Enjoy free time to discover Capri and Anacapri at your own pace, with lunch not included. Return to Sorrento by ferry in the afternoon and make your own way from the port to your hotel. Overnight in Sorrento. (B)

DAY 5:                    SORRENTO – NAPLES – AT SEA 

Breakfast at hotel. Enjoy a free morning in Sorrento. Relax on one of the nearby beaches, sample the region’s cuisine, or explore the charming towns along the Amalfi Coast. Return to Sorrento around lunchtime before a private transfer to the Port of Naples in the early afternoon. Board the evening ferry to Palermo and enjoy an overnight crossing of the Tyrrhenian Sea, arriving in Palermo early the following morning. Overnight on board the ferry. (B)

DAY 6:                    PALERMO 

Arrival in Palermo in the early morning (breakfast not included on board the ferry). A private transfer will be waiting for you at the Port of Palermo to take you to your hotel. Once you arrive at the hotel, explore the city at your leisure. Overnight in Palermo. 

DAY 7:                    PALERMO 

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day at leisure to discover more of Palermo. Overnight stay in Palermo. (B) 

DAY 8:                     PALERMO 

Breakfast at the hotel before checking out. End of services. (B)

• The itinerary of the tour and the days of excursions may be modified for technical reasons. In any case, all visits and excursions mentioned on the itinerary will be guaranteed or replaced by similar ones.
• Class of rail ticket is based on 2^ndclass unless the optional upgrade to 1^stclass has been selected at the time of booking.
• The package price is based on 2026 train fares. Should the train operator increase its fares, the package price will be adjusted accordingly.
