Landscapes of Switzerland by Rail | Self Guided Tour | 8 Days

DAY 1:                                    MILAN 

Upon arrival into Milan, private transfer from Milan airport or rail station to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore the sights of the “Capital of Northern Italy”. Overnight in Milan.  

 
DAY 2:                                   MILAN – COMO 
After breakfast, take a local train from Milan to Lake Como. Explore the town’s highlights, including its cathedral, lakeside promenade, and scenic funicular. Enjoy free time in the afternoon before returning to your hotel. Overnight in Como. (B) 

 
DAY 3:                                   LAKE COMO 
Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will dedicate the day to discovering the beauty of Lake Como, on the stretch of the lake that leads from Como to Bellagio. Our ticket allows you to get off at each stop and visit the various villages on the western shore. Visit the romantic town of Bellagio, known for its cobbled streets and stunning lakeside views. Be sure to check ferry times for your return to Como, where you’ll enjoy the beauty of the lake in the afternoon light. Overnight in Como. (B) 

 
DAY 4:                                   COMO – LUGANO 
Take the early morning train from Como San Giovanni to Lugano (approx. 30 minutes), enjoying scenic views along the way. After dropping off your luggage at the hotel, explore Lugano’s historic centre at your own pace. Overnight in Lugano. (B) 

 
DAY 5:                                   LAKE LUGANO 
After breakfast, use your Swiss Travel Pass to explore Lake Lugano by boat, stopping at villages you may have missed the day before. In the afternoon, take the funicular to Monte Brè or Monte San Salvatore (discounted rate when using your Swiss Travel Pass) for stunning views and optional walks or lunch at a mountaintop restaurant. Later, enjoy free time in Lugano. Overnight in Lugano. (B) 

 
DAY 6:                                   LUGANO – LUCERNE 
After breakfast, board the Gotthard Panorama Express from Lugano for a scenic journey through the Swiss Alps, including the historic Gotthard Tunnel. From Flüelen, continue by boat across Lake Lucerne, enjoying stunning views. Upon arrival in Lucerne, check in at your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the city. Overnight in Lucerne. DAY 7:                                   LUCERNE – INTERLAKEN – LUCERNE 
After breakfast, board the Interlaken Express for a scenic ride from Lucerne to Interlaken, passing lakes, valleys, and mountain views. Enjoy the day exploring Interlaken. In the evening, return by train to Lucerne. Overnight in Lucerne. (B) 

 
DAY 8:                                   LUCERNE – ZURICH 
Breakfast at the hotel in Lucerne. Board a scenic train from Lucerne to Zurich. The trip offers stunning views of the Swiss countryside. Trains from Lucerne to Zurich run frequently, providing a comfortable and convenient way to travel. Arrival in Zurich and end of our services. (B)
