Experience the contrast of the beautiful Islands of Sardinia and Corsica
Departure at 8.30 am from Hotel Best Western Moderno Verdi, Piazza Verdi 5, Geno to Rapallo, famous tourist centre. Visit of the old town where a long promenade ends with the beautiful castle of Dragut. Then, road to Portofino. Around a little square, you can have a nice view of a group of high, coloured and picturesque houses. In the small port, during the high season, you can see expensive yachts from every part of the world. Visit. Finally, stop in Santa Margherita, beautiful seaside city of Riviera di Levante (Eastern Riviera), located in the Tigullio Gulf. Lunch at your own. Return to Genoa to have free time in the old town until the time necessary to get on the ship to Sardinia, Olbia that departs at 8.30 pm. Accommodation in a first class inside cabin. Overnight onboard the boat.
Breakfast on board. Arrival to Olbia at 8.30 approx. Departure to Palau for a short break in order to leave the luggages at the hotel. Departure to the islands Maddalena and Caprera. You’ll find not only beaches and fun but also culture and history. Many cultural events depend on the presence of a strong personality of the past, Giuseppe Garibaldi, a sort of national hero, to which a museum is dedicated inside the house where he spent his last years and died. Lunch at your own in the centre of La Maddalena. Return to Palau, rest of the day at your own with the chance to relax and enjoy one of the local beaches. Overnight in Palau.
Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion through the Emerald Coast. The city of Arzachena is the core of this extremely appreciated and famous area. Rich nature, Mediterranean macchia, rocks shaped by the nature itself, wonderful beaches in a clear sea water, promontories and small islands. This incredible heritage was created in 1962 due to the free initiative of the prince Aga Khan V, who controlled an international financial organisation. Visit of the villages of Poltu Quatu, Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo. Free time to spend in one of the best beaches of the island. Lunch at your own. Back to Palau. Overnight in Palau.
After Breakfast, depart for Stintino a village very famous for its beautiful beaches in front of Asinara Island. Its old town still shows the aspect of a fishermen hamlet that was in the past but the surroundings are characterised by luxurious villas and resorts. Lunch at your own. Later, route to Capo Caccia, West tip of the wonderful Porto Conte Bay. The tour stops in a panoramic spot to take pictures of the most beautiful local bays with caves and small beaches. Arrival to Alghero, tourist place situated on a promontory surrounded everywhere by large beaches. Visit of the city centre and afternoon at your own for personal visits in the old town of this city defined as capital of corals. Overnight in Alghero.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Castelsardo. Old and wonderful village, it presents a clear track of Genoa dominion. Its coast, its local manufacturing, its receptive structures make it one of the most required places of the island for the summer holidays. Then, departure to Santa Teresa. This place is the symbol of a fusion between nature and modern, tourism and wild area, representing a cult itinerary for thousands of tourists. Its promontory seems a huge cathedral, imposing and strict, and rises in front of the famous white Sardinian rocks, creating several strange shapes in one of the most evocative seaside places of the world, the so-called Strait of Bonifacio. Free time for lunch. Here, we invite you to taste the mirto, the typical local liqueur made by myrtle. Later on, ferry boat to Bonifacio (Corsica). Visit of the city. Under the control of Genoa Republic for a long time, this town is located at the bottom of the island near the windy Strait of Bonifacio. Visit of the port and the downtown. Overnight in Bonifacio.
Breakfast at the hotel. Road through the region to get in Ajaccio, the capital. It is the second biggest dock of the island (after Bastia). Near there, we’ll visit the old district, with narrow streets built to defend the town. In 1769, the 15th of August, Napoleon was born there. Departure to Corte, the old capital of the island, main cultural centre, headquarter of the unique university where the ancient Corse language is still spoken. Visit and free time for lunch. Departure to Bastia, crossing one of the wildest and most amazing side of the island. Break to take photos of this beautiful area with small villages and picturesque corners. Overnight in Bastia.
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, free time for your last visits including the ancient Genoese fortress. Later, ferry to Livorno. Lunch at your own on board the boat. Arrival and transfer to Genoa (downtown). End of our services.
