Welcome to Milan! After your arrival at the airport, make your own way to your hotel and then enjoy your first day in the city at your own leisure. Overnight in Milan.
Breakfast at your hotel. At 08:45 am reach the meeting point at Largo Cairoli corner Via Cusani to join the group for the full day excursion to Como leaving at 09:00 am. Explore the fashionable lakeside town of Como, surrounded by snowcapped mountains and picturesque Mediterranean villas, and enjoy a breathtaking cruise along Lake Como. Departing from central Milan in the morning, take a 1-hour drive up to Como, arriving around 10:00 am. Take a guided tour of the city and then ride the funicular up to the town of Brunate, one of the best places to soak up a sweeping panorama of the city and the lake. You’ll then have free time for lunch (own expense) in Brunate before the highlight of your afternoon: a Lake Como cruise. Board the boat at the Como city center and then sit back and relax on a 1-hour cruise around the breathtaking lake. Admire the splendid lakeside villas and keep an eye out for Villa d’Este at Cernobbio, a luxurious hotel with tropical gardens. After your Lake Como cruise, you’ll have free time to shop, sightsee and grab some coffee if you wish before heading back to Milan. Overnight in Milan.
Breakfast at your hotel. Morning at your leisure. At 2.30pm reach the meeting point at Largo Cairoli corner Via Cusani for the regular afternoon half day city tour of Milan. Take a look at the medieval Sforza Castle. An impressive medieval Castle and fortress, one of the most impressive urban castles in Europe. The Sforzesco was once residence for the ruling family of Milan and now hosts several of the city’s museums and art collections. Visit the splendid Duomo Cathedral, a striking example of Gothic art and the largest church in Italy. Try to count the statue crammed onto its roof and façade, there are more than 3.200 of them, before following your guide in the visit of the interior. Exit the Duomo and walk inside Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping gallery, a 19th century glass vaulted shopping arcade. Brimming with fashionable shops and cafes, it used to be the connecting path between the Cathedral and the La Scala Opera House, so the ladies could stay dry in their way to the theatre in case of rain. At the end of the Galleria you arrive at Milan’s most famous Opera House: the fabulous La Scala theatre. Founded in 1778 and still in use, some of the world’s greatest musicians and opera singers have performed here including Pavarotti, Maria Callas and Giuseppe Verdi. Overnight in Milan.
