Travel around Italy on this 7 day independent rail package from Venice to Rome
This tour starts with the high-speed train journey from Venice S. Lucia to Bologna Centrale. The journey takes about 1h 30 ‘. After arriving, hotel accommodation and free time to visit the city, a one-day hop-on / hop-off panoramic bus ticket being included with a multilingual audio guide. A tasting of a local product is included as well. Overnight in Bologna.
Breakfast at the hotel, then free day to continue exploring Bologna or to take advantage of one of the many optional experiences possible. This area is known as the Italian ‘Food Valley’, and there are many options for food enthusiasts: you can participate in a Bolognese cooking class with lunch at the home of a real ‘sfoglina’, one of those ladies who still make egg pasta by hand according to the local ancient recipe. For those who are fond of fast cars and motorcycles, however, this is also the ‘Motor Valley’ of Italy, home to historic brands such as Ferrari, Ducati and Lamborghini. You can visit their factories and museums. Alternatively, you can climb the 500 steps of the Asinelli Tower, to enjoy a view of the city from above, or take the panoramic train to San Luca (the hill overlooking Bologna) with a multilingual audio guide and taste a local product. Overnight in Bologna.
After breakfast at the hotel, we board the high-speed train to Naples Central Station The journey takes about 4h. You could leave from Bologna early in the afternoon to take advantage of some more time in the city or leave even earlier to immediately start discovering Naples one of the largest and most enchanting cities of art in the Mediterranean. Overnight in Naples.
Breakfast at the hotel, later in the morning you can join a street food tour with a taste of the specialties for which Naples is famous all over the world: coffee, sfogliatella, babà, taralli and of course pizza, the authentic one that respects the traditional recipe. Free afternoon to continue the visit of the city on your own. Among the most relaxing and suggestive activities to do in Naples you cannot miss a walk along the city’s seafront promenade. One of the most loved and popular places for both citizens and tourists. Strolling along Naples’ seafront promenade means admiring at a glance most of the beauties that characterize the city: Vesuvius, the island of Capri, Castel dell’Ovo and the Posillipo promontory. Overnight in Naples.
Breakfast at the hotel, then free day to visit the wonderful surroundings of Naples with one of the optional excursions, all with transport included. You can explore the famous Amalfi Coast, stopping in Ravello, Amalfi and Positano, to stroll through the ancient villages, among the white and coloured houses, and admire one of the most beautiful panoramas in the world from the ‘Terrace of Infinity’. Or you can dedicate the day to the guided tour of the archaeological excavations of Pompeii (an open-air museum covered and perfectly preserved by the lava of the Vesuvius volcano during an eruption in 79 AD), followed by a typical lunch and the climb to the top of the volcano, from which you can enjoy a breath-taking view of the Gulf of Naples. Alternatively, you can go on an excursion to the island of Capri, known worldwide for its Faraglioni, the Blue Grotto and the characteristic Piazzetta, which the international jet set has made famous ever since the 1950s. Overnight in Naples.
After breakfast at the hotel, we board the high-speed train to Roma Termini Station. The journey takes about 1h 15 ‘. The rest of the day will be entirely dedicated to the discovery of Rome. We recommend a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, to admire Michelangelo’s famous Sistine Chapel and other masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance, or our tour of Imperial Rome, to closely observe the monuments of the Roman Forum, enter the Colosseum and listen to our guide’s evocative narration of the history of ancient Rome and the gladiator fights that took place there. Alternatively, gastronomy enthusiasts can participate in a practical cooking class to learn how to prepare some of the best-known Italian specialties such as pasta, pizza or tiramisu. Overnight in Rome.
Breakfast at the hotel, check-out and end of the tour. End of services.
