Depart from Port Said in luxury air-conditioned motor coaches en-route to Africa’s largest city, the teeming metropolis of Cairo. Your first stop will be at Giza Plateau where the only remaining Wonder of the Ancient World, the Pyramids of Giza still stand. Your coach will park at the base of Chephren’s pyramid and time will be allocated to explore the site on your own. Continue down the valley where the guardian of this mortuary complex, the mighty Sphinx lies watching the passage of time and men in eons of silence its expression an enigma yet to be unravelled. Take time out to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch buffet at a leading 5* deluxe hotel. After lunch drive to Tahrir (Liberty) Square, the heart of down town Cairo. Visit the National Archaeological Museum and acquaint yourself with Egypt’s ancient history, spanning a period of over 50 centuries. The Museum is the repository of the world’s largest and richest collection of Egyptian Antiquities amongst them the priceless collection of King Tutankhamun. Visit a Papyrus Institute where the art of paper making from reeds discovered by the Ancient Egyptians will be demonstrated for you. Limited time for souvenir shopping will also be allocated before you commence the drive to Port Said.

Ancient Ephesus through the ages, Kusadasi

Duration: Half Day

This is a wonderful journey through some of the most important and formative periods of history and we hope you will be enthralled by the stories of the Hellenes, Romans and of Christianity in our fascinating exploration of Ephesus. This marvellous city, sitting on the hills outside Kusadasi is a fabulous open air archaeological wonder founded by the Greeks around 2000 BC. It was one of the most important cities of the region and was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. The Temple built in her honour was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It had more than 100 marble pillars each standing 56 feet tall and it earned the city the name ‘Servant of the Goddess.’ A single pillar remains standing on the site, found during an excavation in the 1870s. We will be able to see the Agora, Odeon, the Library of Celsus, the marvel-paved Main Street of Curetes, the Baths of Scholastica, Trajan’s Fountain, the Temple of Hadrian and the Houses of Koressus, where the wealthy families of Ancient Ephesus lived. Only 13 per cent of Ephesus has so far been uncovered. The finds from the excavations made so far are housed in the Archaeological Museum of Ephesus in the city of Selcuk. We have time for shopping for carpets, jewellery, leather and other souvenirs at the end of our tour.

Cruising the Greek Islands

Review for: Aegean Circle Cruise Athens - Athens

We book a Celestyal Cruise through Sun Island Tours for August 2020, Unfortunately due to the circumstances of COVID we had to post pone. We were lucky enough to had book through Sun Island Tours who stayed in touch without through the last 2 years and helped our re organise our plans for 2022. It was nice to see that a company actually cared about us and ensured we still got to travel in the future. During times like these we really appreciated this and won't hesitate to ever book with them. Fast forward to May 2022 we finally got to embark on our Greek Cruise. The staff were so warm and welcoming, It was so nice to see things finally going back to normal. The cruise overall was excellent value for money. Nothing too fancy but perfect for us. We are sad to be home but we are already planning our next holiday to Croatia.

Celestyal Cruises is a great way to see

Review for: Greece and Turkey Cruise Athens - Athens

Celestyal Cruises is a great way to see the Greek Islands. The ships are older, however they are clean and well maintained, crew is nice, food is very good, tours are extremely interesting and schedules are kept. Plan to travel on the cruise line again.

Greek Cruise

Review for: Aegean Circle Cruise Athens - Athens

The itinerary was perfect, and so were the excursions and guides. The majority of the crew was friendly, but some were not. We enjoyed the tours and the destinations, but we were very disappointed with the food and the included drink selection. Also, it forced us to eat on the Islands if you wanted to spend any additional time after the excursion because they cut off the lunch after 2 pm. I have never been on a cruise that did not offer many options for eating any time you wanted, but not on this cruise! It was our anniversary, so we chose the most expensive suite with a large balcony. The cabin was very nice and would recommend this option if you decide to go on this ship. This cruise was our first trip to Greece, and it was gorgeous. I recommend you go to the Islands as we did, but I cannot recommend this ship.
